Project Manager - Mining

O’Hara Search Group is partnering with a leading organization in the mining sector to support the hiring of a Mining Project Manager to join their team in either Toronto or Vancouver. We work closely with organizations across engineering, construction, and resource sectors on the delivery of critical hiring needs. This role will play a key part in leading the execution of capital mining projects within EPC/EPCM delivery environments.


The Role

The Mining Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of mining projects from early-stage development through construction and commissioning. This role provides leadership across multidisciplinary teams and works closely with internal stakeholders, engineering partners, and contractors to ensure strong project performance.


Working within an EPC/EPCM framework, this position is well suited to someone who is comfortable managing complex project scopes, aligning technical and commercial priorities, and driving projects forward in a structured and accountable way. The role balances day-to-day execution with broader oversight of risk, performance, and stakeholder coordination.


Location & Schedule

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Toronto, Ontario or Vancouver, British Columbia. The role follows a hybrid working model and will require periodic travel to project sites across Canada.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of mining projects across all phases, including feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including engineering, geology, operations, and external contractors
  • Ensure alignment with EPC/EPCM project delivery models, standards, and governance processes
  • Monitor project performance, track progress against key milestones, and implement corrective actions where required
  • Identify and manage risks across technical, commercial, and operational aspects of the project
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships, including scope, deliverables, and performance oversight
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement across project delivery processes and systems


Qualifications:


Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will bring 10 to 15 years of experience within mining or heavy industrial project environments, with a demonstrated track record delivering projects under EPC and/or EPCM frameworks. Experience across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility through execution—will be important for success in this role.
  • Exposure to both brownfield and greenfield projects, along with experience working in Canadian mining environments, is considered an asset.

Technical Knowledge

  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mining operations, project delivery models, and capital project execution. Experience managing large-scale project budgets, schedules, and performance metrics is essential. Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools, along with knowledge of regulatory, environmental, and permitting requirements within the mining sector, will support success in the role.
  • Professional designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility is preferred, and a PMP or equivalent project management certification will be considered an asset.

Compensation & Benefits

  • A competitive compensation package will be offered, with a base annual salary range of $150,000 to $200,000 CAD, dependent on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and overall fit for the role.
