We work closely with organizations across engineering, construction, and infrastructure sectors on the delivery of critical hiring needs. This role sits within a major potash development project and will play an important part in supporting field construction leadership, contractor oversight, and execution quality across electrical and instrumentation scopes at site.


The Role

  • The Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent is responsible for supervising and overseeing contractor-led field construction activities across a broad range of electrical and instrumentation work. This includes ensuring installation activities are completed safely, in line with project requirements, and to the expected quality and performance standards.
  • This position is well suited to someone who is comfortable leading construction operations in a fast-paced field environment, coordinating across multiple site functions, and maintaining strong visibility over safety, schedule, execution quality, and interface management. The role requires a practical leader who can work directly with contractors, identify and communicate field issues, and support effective decision-making at site.


About the Project

  • Bantrel is part of the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV), which is executing engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. Following completion of the Definition Phase Study, the project is now in the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure, and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published total installed cost of approximately US $5.3 to $5.7 billion, the project represents one of the largest private investments in Canada and is being delivered using a combination of proven project execution tools and new technologies.


Location & Schedule

  • This is a camp-based position located in Leroy, Saskatchewan, operating on a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation. The role is being offered as a full-time site-based opportunity and is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee field construction activities across electrical and instrumentation scopes, including contractor work associated with E-Houses, permanent electrical equipment, raceway, cable systems, telecommunications, grounding and bonding, lightning protection, lighting, heat tracing, PAU electrical and instrumentation interconnections, instrument mounting and wiring, calibration, and equipment preservation.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of project Health, Safety, and Environmental processes, plans, and procedures, and actively participate in field safety leadership initiatives.
  • Monitor contractor performance in the field to ensure work is progressing in accordance with schedule, budget, quality expectations, and HSE requirements.
  • Perform regular field inspections and support the General Superintendent in validating activity sequencing, level of effort, and execution planning.
  • Identify field changes proactively in collaboration with Project Construction Coordinators and Field Engineering representatives, ensuring issues are reviewed, communicated clearly, and properly approved before work proceeds.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Field Engineering, Site Material Management, Contracts, Project Controls, Quality, HSE, Common Services, and Commissioning to support issue resolution and maintain continuity in execution.
  • Support the resolution of technical queries and non-conformance issues in coordination with engineering and quality teams.
  • Contribute to site-wide traffic management planning, temporary infrastructure coordination, and the review and communication of simultaneous operations (SIMOPs).
  • Participate in constructability reviews to help ensure upcoming scopes are thoroughly planned and free of major execution risks or fatal flaws.
  • Work closely with other superintendents within the project team and provide cross-coverage as required during shift or leave periods.
  • Validate reports and forecasts, including construction progress summaries, manpower projections, and inputs to cost forecasting.
  • Review and approve contractor permits and related site requests while ensuring alignment with project procedures, job instructions, and ethical standards.



Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar superintendent or senior field construction leadership role. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience overseeing contractor performance in active industrial or mining construction environments and a demonstrated ability to maintain high standards while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture.

Technical Knowledge

  • The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical and instrumentation construction execution, field coordination, and contractor oversight. Experience with Work Face Planning implementation and the ability to review detailed work plans for fatal flaws, poor optimization, and interface risks will be important in this role. Working knowledge of 3D models and the ability to interpret and apply technical requirements in the field are also important.

Core Competencies

  • The successful candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to act confidently and decisively in a site-based construction environment. They should know when to resolve issues directly and when escalation is required, while maintaining clear communication across contractors, field teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly, and the discipline to manage time and priorities effectively are all important in this role. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute meaningfully to the project risk program as a Risk Owner or Control Owner and support disciplined, well-coordinated field execution.
