We work closely with organizations across engineering, construction, and infrastructure sectors on the delivery of critical hiring needs. This role sits within a major potash development project and will play an important part in supporting construction-driven planning, schedule integration, and execution readiness across a large-scale capital project.


The Role

  • The Senior Planner is responsible for the development, integration, control, and recovery of construction execution schedules for large, complex capital projects. This role provides senior-level leadership in construction planning, including sequencing, resource loading, productivity analysis, and schedule recovery, with a focus on supporting safe, efficient, and predictable field execution.
  • Working closely with construction, engineering, procurement, and project leadership teams, this position is well suited to someone who is comfortable operating in a site-based environment, leading planning efforts across multiple workfronts, and providing expert schedule guidance throughout all phases of construction execution.


About the Project

  • Bantrel is part of the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV), which is executing engineering and construction on the Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. Following completion of the Definition Phase Study, the project is now in the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure, and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published total installed cost of approximately US $5.3 to $5.7 billion, the project represents one of the largest private investments in Canada and is being delivered using a combination of proven project execution tools and new technologies.


Location & Schedule

  • This is a camp-based position located in Leroy, Saskatchewan, operating on a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation with 10-hour workdays. Alternative rosters may also be considered. The role is being offered as a full-time permanent opportunity and is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and integration of construction execution schedules, including sequencing, workface planning, and installation logic across all disciplines.
  • Establish, analyze, and maintain construction milestones, ensuring schedule logic supports site execution strategies and contractual requirements.
  • Review construction activities to confirm schedules support safe, efficient, and constructible work execution.
  • Coordinate the timely acquisition of scope definition, quantities, and field data needed to support construction planning activities.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise construction resource loading and leveling, including craft labour, supervision, and support personnel.
  • Coordinate the development of bulk commodity release and installation curves aligned with construction sequencing.
  • Perform and validate construction productivity analyses and establish productivity bases in coordination with Construction Management.
  • Review labour and staffing estimates for reasonableness and alignment with construction execution strategies.
  • Monitor and report on critical path and overall schedule performance across the project.
  • Lead schedule impact analyses and prepare schedule impact reports to support project decision-making.
  • Develop, evaluate, and lead schedule recovery plans, including analysis of additional resources, resequencing, or shift work needed to regain schedule.
  • Identify schedule constraints arising from interdisciplinary interfaces, site limitations, or access restrictions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure full integration of construction schedule activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Interface with Bantrel management and client counterparts on planning and schedule matters, including proposal planning, bid evaluations, and vendor discussions where required.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and on-the-job training to planners and schedulers, and support ongoing improvement of planning standards, procedures, and historical data.



Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have at least 12 years of experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing construction planning and scheduling functions on large EPC/EPCM projects. Experience on major capital construction projects in mining or similarly complex industrial environments, including site-based execution in camp or rotational settings, will be important for success in this role.

Technical Knowledge

  • The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of construction sequencing, field execution, productivity analysis, and schedule recovery techniques. Advanced proficiency in construction scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 is preferred, along with a broad understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction workflows as they relate to site execution.

Core Competencies

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capability, including experience directing and mentoring planning personnel in active project environments. They will also have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present schedule information clearly to construction, project, client, and leadership teams.
  • A practical, execution-focused mindset, strong analytical ability, and the confidence to work across multiple project interfaces will be important in this role.
