Project Control Analyst

O’Hara Search Group is proud to partner with Bantrel Co. to support the hiring of a Project Controls Analyst to join their Infrastructure team in Toronto, Ontario. We work closely with organizations across engineering, construction, and infrastructure sectors on the delivery of critical hiring needs. This role will play an important part in supporting cost control, financial reporting, and risk management on a large-scale transit infrastructure program.


The Role

  • The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting cost engineering, cost analysis and control, project financial reporting, and elements of project risk management across a major infrastructure project. This role provides day-to-day project controls support and works closely with management, field teams, and other project stakeholders to monitor budgets, schedules, actuals, and performance trends.
  • Working as part of an integrated project environment, this position is well suited to someone who is comfortable analyzing project data, developing reporting outputs, identifying trends, and helping the team improve visibility into cost and performance. The role combines analytical responsibilities with regular cross-functional coordination and is ideal for someone who can balance detail-oriented reporting with broader project awareness.


About the Project

  • Bantrel is supporting the Ontario Line Subway Project in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team alongside the customer organization in Toronto, Ontario. The project includes the design, build, operations, and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and more than 15 kilometres of new alignment. The scope is being delivered through multiple major contractors and advanced works packages, making it a large and complex transit program that requires strong coordination across project teams and stakeholders.


Location & Schedule

  • This is a full-time, permanent position based in Toronto, Ontario. The role is aligned to Bantrel’s Infrastructure team and is eligible for Bantrel’s hybrid remote work program of up to 52 days per year, where applicable. Employees may also participate in the Earned Day Off program, which provides alternate Fridays off based on the annual calendar.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support project financial reporting, trending functions, and the invoice and billing review process as required.
  • Take ownership of assigned cost functions and support cost control monitoring, analysis, and reporting across the project.
  • Interface directly with management and field teams to provide project controls support and maintain visibility into budgets, schedules, and actual performance.
  • Support quarterly financial reporting and work with the Project Management team to refine financial reporting strategies, goals, and metrics.
  • Assist in preparing cost data for proposals or contract negotiations and support quantity development and verification activities where required.
  • Help develop budget inputs, quantity bases, cost recording requirements, and reporting standards to support consistent and accurate project controls practices.
  • Perform performance monitoring and control functions, analyze reporting outputs, and recommend corrective actions where trends or issues are identified.
  • Identify or define data sources and support the collection of required project controls data for cost, reporting, and specialty applications.
  • Create and implement measurement systems for project processes, analyze performance metrics, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Project Controls Supervisor and broader project team with financial reporting, cost trending analysis, and the presentation of key impact measures.
  • Support implementation of the project risk management program, including maintaining the risk register, assisting with risk reporting, and participating in or coordinating project risk workshops.



Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of project controls experience, including experience in cost engineering, cost control, cost analysis, and financial reporting. Experience supporting infrastructure projects of similar scope, size, and complexity to a major urban transit program will be important for success in this role.

Technical Knowledge

  • The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, with strong overall Microsoft Office skills. Experience with Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Forms will be considered an asset. A solid understanding of project controls practices, including planning, estimating, cost control, data analysis, and reporting, is important, and experience in other project controls disciplines such as scheduling or estimating will be considered an advantage. Intermediate knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes is also preferred.

Core Competencies

  • The successful candidate will bring strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to translate project data into meaningful reporting and actionable insight. They will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different technical disciplines including engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning. Experience working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders on large infrastructure projects, along with the ability to manage priorities in a structured and professional manner, will be important in this role.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Bantrel offers a competitive compensation package, with a base annual salary range of $100,000 to $125,000 CAD, depending on the successful candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
