O’Hara Search Group is proud to partner with Bantrel Co. to support the hiring of an Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer - Night Shift (Industrial Projects) to join their Mining team in Leroy, Saskatchewan. We work closely with organizations across engineering, construction, and infrastructure sectors on the delivery of critical hiring needs. This role sits within a major potash development project and will play an important part in supporting field inspections, technical issue resolution, and construction quality across electrical and instrumentation scopes during an active phase of project execution.



The Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer - Night Shift is responsible for performing field inspections and participating in construction walk-downs to help ensure work in the field aligns with electrical and instrumentation design intent, project requirements, and quality expectations. The role also supports the resolution of technical queries and non-conformance issues and serves as a key technical link between the Owner, Engineers of Record, and the construction team.


This position is well suited to someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment, interpreting designs in the field, coordinating across engineering and construction teams, and maintaining strong visibility over quality, field changes, and turnover requirements.


About the Project


Bantrel is part of the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV), which is executing engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. Following completion of the Definition Phase Study, the project is now in the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure, and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published total installed cost of approximately US $5.3 to $5.7 billion, the project represents one of the largest private investments in Canada and is being delivered using a combination of proven project execution tools and new technologies.


Location & Schedule

  • This is a camp-based position located in Leroy, Saskatchewan, operating on a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation on night shift. The role is being offered as a full-time short-term opportunity, and it is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and instrumentation field inspections and complete applicable check sheets to verify that work is being installed in accordance with design intent, specifications, and project quality requirements.
  • Review contractor submittals related to electrical and instrumentation scope, including project execution plans, quality plans, inspection and test plans, and inspection records.
  • Address technical queries and non-conformance reports related to electrical and instrumentation design and manage associated documentation, including Technical Queries, Field Change Notices, Field Change Reports, and Non-Conformance Reports.
  • Communicate electrical and instrumentation design changes and field engineering changes with both construction and engineering teams to maintain alignment during execution.
  • Use Integrated Construction Centre platforms and project systems to submit technical queries, notices, reports, and other required field documentation in an efficient and timely way.
  • Review installed quantities, participate in construction walk-downs, and verify closure of punch items to support quality and completion readiness.
  • Review turnover documentation and confirm that minimum maintenance and inspection activities for electrical and instrumentation components are being completed by contractors.
  • Participate in site risk and control ownership activities and generate reports related to electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables, execution status, and turnover progress.
  • Attend contractor quality meetings and support day-to-day prioritization of work in line with broader project objectives.
  • Prepare field sketches for temporary facilities when required and coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to electrical installations, testing, lighting systems, high-voltage equipment, grounding, and DCS systems.
  • Establish working relationships with the Engineer of Record, including alignment on deliverables and construction application configuration management.
  • Review material receiving reports and warehousing activities, support electrical data exchange requirements, and coordinate with Field Supervision and subcontractors to help align work with construction schedules and engineering specifications.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience. Professional Engineer registration in the Province of Saskatchewan will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the electrical discipline on large-scale capital projects, preferably within mining, potash, heavy industrial, or similarly complex construction environments.

Technical Knowledge

  • The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO standards, inspection and test plans, and auditing processes that support major project delivery. They should also bring functional knowledge of engineering standards and engineering management practices in a multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment, including experience with 3D and data-centric design and construction platforms. Working knowledge of integrated project delivery workflows across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, health and safety, environment and community, and risk management will be important for success in this role.
